I would like to warn anybody who will listen about the dangers of wicker. Yes, wicker. Largely the thick kind that's more durable than the thinner wicker most baskets are created of. I know you may believe that that is very trivial, but it isn't. It is a real danger.

Have you ever had a wicker splinter so far deep into your nailbed that you want to tear your nail totally off just to get it out? The reason for the aggravation and discomfort from it is due to the all of nerves on the finish of your finger. I'm not kidding or exaggerating. It is debilitating. You cannot even use the finger using the splinter in it due to how painful it is.

The most embarrassing part of all of that is when I went to the doctor to have it removed. The girl behind the counter exactly where I filled out my insurance coverage info asked me what I was there for. I quietly mentioned it was a splinter and I believe I heard her snicker. The doctor even seemed to believe it was foolish, till he really noticed the splinter. It had been unreachable without really numbing the area and tearing on the nail to get it out. Right after the Novocain wore off, the discomfort connected using the splinter becoming pulled out was even worse than when it was in. I won't ever own another piece of wicker. I wonder if there is a fear named after becoming scared of wicker.
